Burning left sinuses, itchy left ear, what could it be?

I woke up feeling a ton of burning pain in the left side of my nose/sinuses. It led up to my left ear and down just a little bit to the left side of my throat. I don't have any drainage or congestion. The roof of my mouth (towards the left) is almost salty (that's the best way I can describe the way it feels, thought it's not really a taste). I took a shower and it was much better, but about an hour later it's coming back. What on earth could this be?
