Can I use 'superglue' - Cyanoacrylate adhesive - to attach gl and plastic beads to a metal base ?

I'm making jewellery and want to attach small and larger gl and plastic beads to a metal sieve ring finding. Will superglue work or will I need a cement type of glue ? I'm also concerned that the surface of the beads may be spoiled by the glue.
